Un romance gótico en época victoriana, en una casa que sangra, respira y busca venganza. Todo comienza cuando vemos a una niña Edith Cushing (Sofia Wells) quien tiene su primer encuentro con un fantasma, el de su fallecida madre, quien le advierte algo sobre la “cumbre escarlata”. Pasa el tiempo y se transforma en una bella dama llamada Edith Cushing (Mia Wasikowska, “Lazos perversos”) única heredera de su padre, un importante empresario de nombre Carter Cushing (Jim Beaver, "El ladrón de orquídeas"). Ella desde su infancia mantiene una linda amistad con el Dr. Dr. Alan McMichael (Charlie Hunnam, "Titanes del Pacífico") y no tarda en enamorarse de un atractivo aristócrata Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston, "Thor") aunque él padre de ella se opone a dicha relación. Ella quiere ser escritora de novelas de fantasmas pero a fines del siglo XIX ese era un lugar reservado para los hombres, las mujeres estaban destinadas más al romanticismo, por eso ella decide escribir a máquina porque su caligrafía la delataría. Algo inesperado sucede y fallece el padre de Edith. Ella se casa y va a vivir a la mansión inglesa de su amado Thomas junto a su inseparable hermana Lucille Sharpe (Jessica Chastain, "Mamá”). Ese lugar es tan espectacular como lúgubre, frío y triste. Ese lugar sangra, se encuentra lleno de secretos, mentiras y estos no tardan en aparecer. Esta es una historia de suspenso clásica, con una casa que tiene vida y reacciona con los espíritus que tiene dentro. Se encuentra llena de misterio y metáforas, se van generando buenos climas, es bien oscura, claustrofóbica, contiene algunos sobre saltos y una fotografía que resalta los colores que necesita. Posee un buen movimiento de cámara como así también ciertos trucos. Cuenta con un buen estilo gótico y con una buena dirección de arte, cortinas, vestuario, velas, candelabros y muebles, entre otros elementos. La cinta tiene cierta similitud a "La casa Usher", como así también otras del género. Algunas situaciones resultan algo exageradas. Casi seguro obtendrá alguna nominación a los Premios Oscar.
Un hombre cruzó varias veces Las Torres Gemelas de norte a sur en 1974. Un paseo entre las nubes. El prestigioso cineasta Robert Zemeckis, el ganador del Premio por “Forrest Gump”, quien además dentro de su filmografía se encuentra el “Náufrago”, “Volver al futuro”, “El expreso polar” y “El vuelo”, nos introduce en una historia verídica de un equilibrista, cuando, una mañana en agosto de 1974, el joven francés Philippe Petit (interpretado muy bien por Joseph Gordon-Levitt y además con acento francés), usando unos cables para cruzarse de una de las Torres Gemelas de Nueva York a la otra, caminado en el inmenso vacío, realizó una gran hazaña y logró producir el número artístico más impresionante del siglo pasado. Dentro de su desarrollo vamos conociendo más al joven Philippe Petit en Francia. Este realizaba distintos números artísticos logrando la atención de muchos personas, un equilibrista callejero que ganaba su sustento a la gorra y que era corrido por la policía. Un día, por casualidad, mientras espera en un consultorio médico, ve en una revista las Torres Gemelas y ahí descubrió su gran sueño. Practica constantemente, hasta que conoce a quien sería su mentor Papa Rudy (Ben Kingsley), también un acróbata y equilibrista. Junto a él aprende algunas técnicas y, entre éxitos y errores, se prepara para la gran aventura. Una vez en Nueva York, junto a grupo de amigos tan locos como Philippe, más su novia la bella y dulce Annie (Charlotte Le Bon, "La espuma de los días"), convierte un sueño en realidad y, a lo largo de unos 45 minutos, el vértigo se instala en los espectadores, cuando un hombre intenta cruzar sobre Manhattan a través de unos cables a más de 400 metros de altura mientras las ráfagas de viento se hacen sentir, varios obstáculos, pero cabe suponer que todo está sincronizado. A esta altura, nada tiene que demostrar el prestigioso cineasta Zemeckis. Cuenta con la muy buena preparación y actuación de Joseph Gordon-Levitt y, en menor medida, la de Ben Kingsley, a quien se lo ve poco tiempo en pantalla. Ofrece al espectador unos 45 minutos en una secuencia aterradora, le da nerviosismo, se encuentra llena de suspenso y tensión, vertiginosa, con un excelente trabajo de cámara, visualmente brillante, atrapante de principio a fin y también se encuentra respaldada por la tecnología del 3D. La película te deja varios mensajes, entre ellos, habla sobre la perseverancia y el encontrar y lograr tus sueños. Tiene momentos conmovedores y un gran homenaje a las Torres Gemelas.
Un thriller psicológico escalofriante. Todo gira en torno a un matrimonio sin hijos, Simon (Jason Bateman, “Juno”) y Robyn (Rebecca Hall, “Iron man 3”) que viajan desde Chicago para instalarse en una hermosa casa en Los Ángeles. Ellos intentan olvidar su pasado después de un hecho trágico, que con el correr de los minutos conoceremos más en detalle. En esta nueva casa piensan tener una nueva vida que los puede hacer feliz. Allí los reciben muy bien sus vecinos entre ellos Lucy (Allison Tolman) quien tiene una bebita; Robyn y Simon rápidamente entablan una amistad. Ahora Simon ha conseguido un buen trabajo, ellos tienen una vida de ensueño, pero ella se encuentra con Gordon (Joel Edgerton), este hombre resulta ser un viejo compañero de escuela de Simon, una serie de encuentros inesperados, varios regalos que comienzan a llegar y su presencia se tornan en algo terrorífico a partir de una serie de acontecimientos. Lentamente su presencia resulta cada vez más desagradable. Un horrible secreto sale a la luz después de más de 20 años. Sus vidas se verán atrapadas en un pasado oscuro, lleno de reproches, engaños, traiciones, venganzas y secretos. Se van generando climas de suspenso y tensión, con buenos diálogos, tiene un estilo a Alfred Hitchcock por su desarrollo y la complementan algunos sobresaltos. Con algunos toques similares a “El cabo del miedo” (1991), algunas situaciones que están algo trilladas, pero la historia va teniendo giros argumentales eficaces decisivos. No es conveniente adelantar y comentar demasiado para que no pierda el efecto en los espectadores. Este film es del productor Jason Blum de “Whiplash” y “The Purge”, en un thriller psicológico que marca el debut como director del aclamado actor y escritor Joel Edgerton (“The Great Gatsby”, “Zero Dark Thirty”, “Warrior”).
Una historia divertida, llena de criaturas fantásticas, magia y aventura. La película comienza cuando vemos una bella mujer triste que durante una noche fría deja en las puertas de un orfanato en una canasto a un bebe bien abrigado y con una carta conmovedora prometiendo que volverá por él. Luego continua doce años después y nos situamos en Londres durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, ese niño ya ha crecido y se llama Peter (Levi Miller, "Terra Nova" - TV Series) es inquieto, curioso e inteligente se encuentra bajo el dominio de unas monjas malvadas, quienes hacen trabajar a todos en ese orfanato, los maltratan y les dan poca comida y alguno de ellos desaparecen extrañamente. Peter y su amigo inseparable Nibbs (Lewis MacDougall, "A Monster Calls") descubren una habitación secreta de una maldita monja, la documentación de cada uno de los niños, comida y un tesoro. Son descubiertos y castigados, pero durante la noche Peter en contra de su voluntad es raptado de manera mágica, aparece en las minas de Neverland donde debe trabajar intensamente para encontrar un tesoro muy especial. Y a nadie le interesa que muera o sus manos se lastiman, todos allí sirven al despiadado Barba Negra (Hugh Jackman, compone un villano brillante). Peter encuentra algo exclusivo ante tal hecho, se arma un gran alboroto y termina siendo juzgado donde lo tiran al vacío, es ahí cuando todos lo ven volar. Barba Negra descubre que se está cumpliendo la profecía que dice que un niño nacido del príncipe de hadas y una madre humana matará a Barba Negra y liberará a la isla. A raíz de eso su vida toma un giro, desde un principio es apoyado por su nuevo amigo el Capitán Garfio (Garrett Hedlund, “Troya”, “Cuatro hermanos”) y se suma una guerrera la princesa Tigra Lily (Rooney Mara, “Red social”, “Ella”). Juntos deben vencer varios obstáculos, luchar, discutir y llegar al mundo de las hadas llamado “Nunca Jamás”. Resulta visualmente mágica, llena de fantasías, color y aventuras. Muy buena la reconstrucción de época en Londres durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Cuenta con las buenas actuaciones siempre sobresaliente de Jackman, un Capitán Garfio al mejor estilo Indy (Harrison Ford) en “Indiana Jones”, le da un toque especial el personaje de Tigra (Rooney Mara, “Red social”, “Ella”). Se encuentra llena de personajes y criaturas fantásticas, además de una breve aparición de Campanita. La música es estupenda, un buen pasatiempo para consumir un buen balde de pochoclos. Con final abierto parece que la historia continua.
Woody Allen a sus 79 años continúa filmando sobre sus obsesiones con toques filosóficos y humor negro. Cuando llega una película de Woody Allen sus seguidores están de fiesta principalmente en Argentina. Aquí tiene un buen número de espectadores que adoran sus films (tiene más de 50 como director). En cada film sabe elegir su elenco y muchos son los actores que quieren trabajar en ellas. Este nuevo film se centra en un profesor de filosofía, Abe Lucas (Joaquin Phoenix), quien es algo escéptico, se encuentra desilusionado de la vida, atormentado por su pasado y además es alcohólico. Lucas va a dar clases durante el verano y una vez allí se comienza a relacionar en el campus de la Universidad con Rita Richards (Parker Posey, “Almas gemelas”) una profesora y Jill Pollard, (Emma Stone, “Birdman o La inesperada virtud de la ignorancia”) alumna. Ambas mujeres se sienten atraídas y ellas están desencantadas, la profesora con su matrimonio y su alumna de su novio Roy (Jamie Blackley "Blancanieves y la leyenda del cazador”). En un principio Abe no quiere involucrarse en relaciones amorosas, luego su narración nos va mostrando los amoríos y amistades entre hombre y mujer, la descripción de cada uno de los personajes del gusto de Allen. Seguidamente a eso la cinta va tomando otra variante cuando en un café Abe y Jill escuchan una conversación que mantienen unos desconocidos, allí hay una madre desesperada un hombre le está haciendo imposible su vida. A partir de ese momento todo cambia en la vida de todos, él decide tomar partido, ayudar a esta mujer sin que nadie lo sepa. En cada momento se va construyendo una historia contundente, profunda e interesante, centrándose en una temática de “crimen y castigo”, sobre las elecciones morales, actos deshonestos y te lleva a la reflexión. Sus diálogos tienen frescura, aprovecha a citar a varios filósofos y escritores como: Kant, Sartre y Dostoyevski, entre otros. Contiene algunos guiños a films como “Extraños en un tren” de Alfred Hitchcock, entre otros. Esta cinta tiene todos los toques Woodyallenescos, vuelve a mostrar todas sus obsesiones, es previsible y reiterativa. Con ciertas similitudes a “Crímenes y Pecados”, “Match Point”, pero más liviana. Llena de enredos, divertida, con toques de humor negro, gags y momentos emotivos. Muy bien actuada por sus protagonistas que vuelven a brillar. Emma Stone y Joaquín Phoenix, en papeles a su medida, el resto del elenco acompaña a la perfección. Una tragicomedia que vuelve a tener al espectador como su cómplice principal. La estupenda fotografía de Darius Khondji (“Medianoche en Paris”; “La habitación del pánico”, “Evita”; entre otras).
Una noche de aventuras en la que poco a poco todo se va saliendo de control. Su desarrollo esta filmado en un solo plano secuencia con cámara en mano (es decir en una sola toma) a lo largo de dos horas y dieciocho minutos, esto es bastante novedoso y llega de la mano del cineasta alemán Sebastian Schipper (“Un amigo mío”). En una discoteca de Berlín una noche una joven madrileña Victoria (Laia Costa; “Pulseras rojas” TV. Un bello rostro y una buena actuación) de unos veinte años, que no tiene amigos, trabaja en un café y gana tan solo 4 euros por hora tiene una vida bastante aburrida y monótona. Pero su vida tiene un giro cuando esa noche y en esa discoteca conoce a cuatro jóvenes berlineses: Sonne (Frederick Lau, “La ola”), Blinker (Burak Yigit), Boxer (Franz Rogowski) y Fub (Max Mauff), ellos salen todos juntos y su relación será para siempre, juntos van viviendo diferentes momentos, situaciones, aventuras y experiencias inolvidables. Con el correr de los minutos vamos conociendo más a cada uno de los personajes sus angustias, secretos, su presente y pasado. Para Victoria ya nada será como antes y además encontrará el amor de Sonne. La cinta contiene un importante trabajo de cámara, su ritmo es vertiginoso, brutal, frenético y salvaje. Con este estilo de filmación siguiendo en todo momento a los actores, el director intenta que el espectador sienta los deseos de la protagonista el aturdimiento, la sed de libertad y esas ganas de sentirse viva, y es posible que su título también esté relacionado de cierta manera con su proceso y desarrollo. Además contiene suspenso, acción, intriga y toques románticos. Muestra jóvenes cometiendo algunos desórdenes, alcohol, drogas, robos, vértigo y el deseo de liberación. Cuenta con buenas actuaciones, todos los diálogos fueron improvisados y los actores: Laia Costa y Frederick Lau, ya hemos visto algunos de sus trabajos y se destacan. Se enlazan muchos lugares, el paso del tiempo y la conducta de los personajes. Pero a lo largo de su desarrollo y con su desenlace no termina siendo creíble.
Nos encontramos frente a una epopeya épica donde un astronauta se transforma en un náufrago espacial. Contiene imágenes impactantes, es visualmente impecable y posee toques de humor. Todo gira en torno a la misión Ares 3 de la NASA que se encuentra en el planeta Marte, el cuarto planeta del Sistema Solar más cercano al Sol, apodado “el planeta rojo”. Estos sufren una terrible tormenta, los amenaza el peligro y toda la tripulación huye pero uno de los astronautas Mark Watney (Matt Damon, "Interstellar") no es encontrado, no hay tiempo, lo dan como perdido y muerto. Todos llegan a la conclusión que este integrante de la tripulación ha muerto y que su cuerpo quedo allí en medio de la nada. Se supone que este astronauta no pudo sobrevivir a dicha tormenta, es la conclusión que sacan su compañeros y también en el planeta Tierra. Sin embargo lo que todos desconocen es que Mark se encontraba desmayado y herido y que cuando este despierta se encuentra solo en Marte en un territorio muy hostil para cualquier ser humano. Pero Mark es un astronauta de la NASA, por lo tanto se ha preparado. Ellos saben: ciencia, tecnologías espaciales, conocimientos médicos básicos, entrenamiento y tienen una rigurosa instrucción. Mark no tarda en darse cuenta que si quiere seguir viviendo debe ingeniárselas y cada cosa que hace la graba, y sabe que para su rescate se tardarían unos 4 años por lo tanto comienza a calcular la comida y bebida; según sus cálculos sabe que los suministros son muy escasos, y que le permitirán vivir poco tiempo. Por lo tanto se las va ingeniando para encontrar la forma de comunicarse con la Tierra, decir que sigue vivo, para que lo rescaten e ir buscando más alimentos. Muestra a un astronauta de la NASA como hace para sobrevivir dentro de un planeta hostil, entre la soledad, la tecnología, los momentos trágicos y emotivos. Algo similar sucedía con Tom Hanks en “Naufrago” la diferencia radica en que en este caso es un experto como lo era Sandra Bullock en “Gravedad”. El notable cineasta Scott con gran solvencia logra entretener y atrapar al espectador, (en un eficaz viaje a Marte solamente con la entrada de cine), mezclando la ciencia ficción, el drama y el suspenso. Va dándole toques de humor, se carga con buena música (también es protagonista), un imponente escenario y dentro del elenco secundario logran lucirse: Jessica Chastain (Interstellar"), Jeff Daniels (“Looper: Asesinos del futuro") y Sean Bean (“Troya”), entre otros.
Siempre es grato ver en pantalla a Robert De Niro y Anne Hathaway en una comedia sin muchas pretensiones. Este film llega de la mano de la nominada al Oscar y premiada cineasta Nancy Meyers (“Enamorándome de Mi Ex,” “Alguien tiene que ceder”) y con el guión de su propia autoría. Eligio como protagonistas a Robert De Niro (“Toro Salvaje,” “Taxi Driver”) y Anne Hathaway (“Les Misérables,” “El Diablo viste a la Moda”). Narra los momentos que vive Ben Whittaker (Robert De Niro, ya tiene 72) un viudo solitario que extraña a su esposa y que tiene un hijo casado que vive en San Diego junto a sus hijos. Ben pasa sus días practicando yoga en un parque de Brooklyn y visita los funerales con su grupo de amigos, pero un día, por casualidad descubre un volante para trabajar en una empresa de venta de indumentaria por internet y necesitan alguien de la tercera edad como pasante de moda. Se entusiasma con la idea y hasta él mismo a través de una cámara graba su presentación. Es un hombre muy prolijo con su departamento y su persona, está feliz por volver al ruedo, fue un ejecutivo en una importante empresa, le encantan los desafíos y no le molesta ahora convertirse en un pasante de un sitio de modas online fundado y administrado por Jules Ostin (Hathaway), se la ve fuerte, de gran temperamento, circula por los distintos sectores montada en una bicicleta, le gusta el orden y está atenta a cada situación. En su sector trabaja con un grupo de jóvenes Jason (Adam DeVine, "Más Notas Perfectas"), Davis (Zack Pearlman), Lewis (Jason Orley) ellos se ayudan mutuamente forman un gran equipo, se forma una hermandad y viven varias situaciones cómicas. Ben es un hombre al que la vida le ha dado cierta sapiencia y cuando descubre que el chofer de Jules, Mike (C.J. Wilson, "The Magic of Belle Isle") es un alcohólico, sin escándalos y muy elegantemente lo saca de sus funciones. Ben se va transformando en la mano derecha de Jules, aunque a ella en un principio no le agrada demasiado y como es de esperar terminan siendo grandes compañeros. Contiene una escena final entre Jules y Matt (Anders Holm) su esposo, poco convincente. Es una comedia: divertida, light, con algunos gags, tiene como gancho a sus protagonistas principales que son Robert De Niro y Anne Hathaway figuras que llegan a casi todas las edades. Dentro del elenco secundario se puede ver a: Anders Holm, JoJo Kushner (su personaje como la hija de Jules), Rene Russo (interpretando a la masajista Fiona, genial, atractiva a sus 61 años), Christina Scherer, Celia Weston, Drena De Niro, (hija del actor Robert De Niro, Ha trabajado en "Showtime","Herencia de sangre"). Entretenida, un buen pasatiempo, bastante previsible y con los toques de la cineasta Meyers dentro de un guión flaco.
Este es el segundo largometraje del cineasta ruso Levan Gabriadze, un experto en crear atmósferas de suspenso y terror. Un grupo de amigos de la secundaria Blaire Lily (Shelley Hennig), Mitch (Moses Jacob Storm), Jess Felton (Renee Olstead), Ken Smith (Jacob Wysocki), Matt (Matthew Bohrer) y Adam Sewell (William Peltz),chateando una noche reciben un mensaje por Skype de parte de una compañera de colegio que se suicidó un año atrás (Laura Barns), producto del bullying. Ellos primero suponen que es una broma, pero cuando la chica empieza a revelar secretos de cada uno se dan cuenta que están luchando con algo mucho más oscuro. Quien se mete en la vida de ellos no puede ser eliminado y la situación comienza a tomar cada vez mas forma porque cada uno deberá pagar por sus pecados. Ahora el terror viene con un estilo cibernético, toda la acción se desarrolla vía Facebook, Youtube, Instagram y Skype, uno de los protagonistas es la computadora y esto tiene algunos planteos atractivos. Su narración es ideal para los amantes de la informática. No cuenta con un elenco de actores muy conocidos, una de las actrices más representativa es Shelley Hennig (“Ouija”, “Teen Wolf”), además es la que más se destaca y te hace sentir su desesperación y nerviosismo otorgándole mayor tensión a los hechos. Algunos encontrarán en algún punto cierta similitud con “Carrie” (1976) o “Angel Negro” (2000) de Jorge Olguín, pero aquí con un desarrollo más moderno. No son de real importancia la banda sonora y fotografía. Se encuentra dirigida por el ruso Levan Gabriadze quien ya se encuentra trabajando en la secuela. “Eliminar amigo” obtuvo una muy buena recaudación unos U$S 54 068 288 con un presupuesto de un millón de dólares, (en Estados Unidos se estrenó en abril de este año), por lo tanto en el 2016 se estrenará “Unfriended 2” (“Eliminar amigo 2”).
Una vez más vuelve a brillar la sublime interpretación de Ricardo Darín tocando un tema muy difícil: la muerte. Todo comienza con un bello paisaje de Canadá, casas y árboles cubiertos de nieve, todo muy pintoresco, como un cuadro. Allí vive Tomás (Javier Cámara, en un papel difícil que logra muy bien) un profesor universitario, con su familia que después del llamado de Paula (Dolores Fonzi) decide viajar a España donde vive su amigo de toda la vida Julián (Ricardo Darín, una actuación majestuosa y muy sentida), un reconocido actor argentino que se encuentra padeciendo un cáncer terminal, él ha decidido abandonar todos los tratamientos,quiere vivir sus días con ciertas libertades y uno de sus objetivos es encontrarle una familia substituta a Truman (es quien le da el nombre al film) su perro, no quiere que caiga en manos de cualquiera, es una de sus preocupaciones. Cuando lo presenta dice “tengo dos hijos Nico (Oriol Pla) y Truman (las mascotas son familia)” que es encantador con su mirada tristona. Todo se va desarrollando en el transcurso de tan solo 4 días, con una sutil delicadeza, bien intimista, bien dirigida por el catalán Cesc Gay (“Una pistola en cada mano”, “En la ciudad”), se centra en los momentos que van viviendo estos dos amigos, muy bien interpretados y que gozan de un buen guión (Tomàs Aragay y Cesc Gay). Una historia que te enseña a ser valiente, a enfrentarte a las distintas situaciones por más difíciles que sean, a valorar lo que tenes, el amor incondicional y con un mensaje esperanzador. Estos dos actores juntos traspasan la pantalla, tienen mucha ternura y una gran química, se destacan en cada mirada, gesto, expresión, diálogos, son naturales y sus interpretaciones son soberbias. Llena de situaciones hilarantes y conmovedoras, humor negro, con buenos planteos, que te dejan pensando, para reflexionar y toca un tema difícil: la muerte digna. Es hermoso ver esta amistad entre dos hombres y ese amor incondicional. Una cinta muy bien construida, muy humana, que toca varios temas, entre ellos está el de las perdidas, los reencuentros, la lucha, la vida, los afectos, la despedida, entre otros y a lo largo de su desarrollo es casi inevitable que no llores, pero ojo no apela al golpe bajo, además tiene toques de romanticismo, vuelve a brillar Dolores Fonzi como contenedora y la que intenta poner los límites. Cuenta con una maravillosa fotografía y la música acompaña acertadamente.
